While it may look elaborate, a fishtail plait isn’t actually that much harder to create than a standard one. Taking just minutes to create, once you know what you’re doing you’ll be plaiting your hair ‘til your heart’s content. Tools-wise, all you’ll need is a hair brush, a hair band and possibly a can of hairspray – although not essential. A favourite of YouTube beauty bloggers like Fleur De Force and Zoella, it’s a simple look that once in place requires little maintenance – simply plait and go. Here’s what to do: Step 1 – Start by dividing your hair into two large sections, parting it straight down the middle and holding tight in each hand. Step 2 – Next, pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the right section (now, this might be easier to get the hang of if you watch this YouTube tutorial – although Fleur has gone for a twisted variation on the look, you’ll still find it simple to follow), before pulling it over to the inside of the right section. The great thing about really long hair is it can require very little effort to look after – a quick wash and blow dry and you’re ready to go. But if you’ve recently had your style chopped into a bob or a mid-length ‘do, you’ll know that upkeep can be hard and maintaining your look takes time. That said, long hair does need regular trims, too. It’s easy to just let it keep growing and not notice the dry, drab ends. After all, if you’ve got longer hair you’re much more likely to tie it up out of the way to keep it looking tidy for work or school. So, how can you ensure long hair still looks at its best, even between trims? Here are some of Yazz Hair No 1 Studio Leeds’ top tips to keep your hair looking great. 1. Try Hair Oil – When you’ve got long hair, the tendency is to leave it a little longer between trims. What this means for you is that your ends may be a little drier than most people’s, which is where the trusty hair oil comes in. You can buy it relatively cheaply on the high street, but … Continue reading
Stylists from Leeds Salon, Yazz Number One Hair Studio attended a Ghd ‘hair ups’ Seminar on 11 May 2015 at the Ghd Academy, Bridgewater Place,Leeds. Delegates were taught how to create four different hair ups, the grab & grip, knot bun, sew me up and the braid up. Delegates were given the opportunity through practical sessions to have a go themselves. Abbie Lawrence, Stylist quoted “I have learnt some very useful skills and it has given me lots of confidence and made me realise hair ups are great fun! .My favourite part of the course was pinning up hair with a needle and thread instead of having to use pins.” Yasmin Ellis, Stylist also quoted “A very enjoyable introduction to hair ups. I have learnt how important it is to create a good foundation . This can be achieved by applying styling products such as drying root boost and volume mouse and also all four styles had a curled foundation, curling the hair with either tongs or a wand before creating the updo. Both stylists are feeling excited about their new updo skills and looking forward to creating some very on trend looks in the salon during 2015. If you … Continue reading
