LEEDS HAIR ACADEMY OPENS

academyLeeds: Hairdressing course hopes to be cut above

A COLLEGE teaching hairdressing courses will be a cut above the rest after joining forces with a local salon.

The Yorkshire College of Beauty is working alongside Yazz Number One Hair Studio to open a brand new academy next month.

The Yazz Academy’s NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing course will give students the chance to become fully qualified hairdressers when the new academy opens in Rawdon in April.

The first set of students have just been enrolled and the people behind the academy are keen to hear from other potential candidates.

A spokesperson for the academy said: “Attending the Yazz Academy is the foundation for a successful career in hairdressing.

Students will learn at an industry accredited salon that provides a passport to jobs worldwide.”

They added: “This opportunity can take our young inspired candidates to work on cruise ships, fashion shows and alongside great names such as Vivienne Westwood in her studios and industry programmes.”

Lessons will include theory work, demonstrations, projects and hands-on workshops.

The academy will also offer one to four day awards in advanced cutting, colouring and bridal hair, which are also suitable for stylists already working within the industry who feel they would benefit from a refresher.

The Yorkshire College of Beauty is one of the largest providers of advanced apprenticeships in the UK and will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the apprenticeship in hairdressing. The college in Yeadon has delivered courses in beauty therapy for the past 30 years.
