“I contacted Paul who owns Yazz Number One Hair Salon in Leeds, to talk about an apprenticeship at the academy and he was instantly receptive to seeing my daughter, if only to restore her confidence which had been utterly destroyed.
When we arrived at the academy, the staff who were working with clients on the shop floor, were welcoming, professional and warm. Paul met with my daughter, and the powerful and motivational experience that she received in speaking with him was incredible. Pauls passion for his team, his business and his drive and determination for young people to succeed is so inspiring He explained how the Yazz academy journey worked and how he and his team would excite and drive my daughter to be the best possible version of herself in business. Not only that, he brought his academy team to meet with her, and his team also arranged for her to go and speak to a salon, with a view to starting again. He simply could not have done anymore.
My daughter had experienced a really negative start to the apprenticeship experience with a reputable company and we had to remove her from her first placement and go back to the drawing board. Paul and his team have restored the resilience in her that was so sadly taken away from her through mismanagement and she is once again excited for a fresh start.
Thank you to Paul and his team at Yazz.”

‘We believe education is the key and by pushing ourselves, investing in our learners future we achieve success.’

If your son or daughter chooses a career in hairdressing an apprenticeship is the most common training route. They’ll be gaining real, paid work experience in a salon whilst they learn. Your child will be working in a salon for four days per week and attending training at our Yazz Hairdressing Academy in Leeds one day per week.
Yazz Hairdressing Academy is a private training provider. We take great pride in the selection and training of our staff in order to ensure your child is safe and educated to the highest standard. This includes CRB checks and references, a practical safeguarding policy and stringent health and safety rules.
Our staff are highly qualified and continue to work in salons, and attending training themselves, as well as training apprentices in order to be able to provide students with the most up-to-date information and techniques. Everyone at Yazz Hairdressing Academy is dedicated to ensuring your son/daughter receives the best training and can graduate to work in any type of salon or hairdressing role they wish to.
Throughout the duration of your child’s apprenticeship we will invite you to information evenings and communicate with you regularly to keep you informed of progress and other important information. We operate an open-door policy, so should you have any issues or concerns you can come and discuss them with us directly.
The majority of the apprentices we train go on to be offered full-time employment – often in the salon they have been training in. It doesn’t stop there though; apprenticeships give students the opportunity to progress onto other courses, such as barbering or other tailored courses, or onto the NVQ LEVEL 3 advanced apprenticeship at our Academy. You can also move on to roles that can take them all over the world!
We are committed to safeguarding our students, staff and others from harm. The welfare and wellbeing of our apprentices and their trainers is paramount, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, disability, faith or sexuality. We take all allegations or concerns of abuse very seriously and have processes in places in order to deal with such complaints effectively. We operate a safe and robust recruitment method, which includes CRB checks and all our staff are trained in how to identify and report abuse, be that physical, verbal or online.
If you would like to know more about either of these courses please contact our Academy or call us on 07961 226411. You can also email us at yazzhair@live.co.uk and we will get back to you.

Leeds Hair Academy Apprenticeships are a cost-effective way to develop your business. As an employer you know how important it is to grow and improve you business, and investment in staff is essential to gain an edge over the competition.
Apprenticeships are designed to deliver exactly what your business needs, giving you the skills for the future. They can help you to develop specialist or niche areas of the business, keep up with the latest technology and standards or train your existing staff in new skills.
The benefits of apprenticeships go beyond that though; staff who have time and faith invested in them will find they get a morale and confidence-boost, making them a happier employee and one who is more likely to stay with you. Apprenticeships give you control over how your future staff are trained – they are learning their core skills and customer service in your salon so there’s no need to coach them out of bad habits. It’s a great option for the apprentice too as they get to earn as they learn and gain vital work experience.
Take a look at these facts about the Apprentice Programme:
Yazz Hair started as a small salon 19 years ago, since then we have expanded to three salons across Leeds and we’re proud to say that some of the original staff members are still with us today.
We strongly believe education is key to building a successful business that is always moving forwards and on top of the latest trends, technology and techniques. So much so that we employ a full-time, in-house educator who supports our trainees and ensures that all staff are up-to-date.
Our award winning team regularly attends seminars and often visits the TIGI academies in London and Manchester. We also host TIGI seminars at our salon in Leeds three times a year.
It is essential that our students receive the best training in order for them to become great hairdressing professionals. We are committed to providing quality training and we expect the same standard from the salons we work with too.
The first step is for a Yazz Hairdressing Academy representative to visit your salon and discuss with you in depth what Apprenticeships involve and your role and responsibility in the process. We will assess the health and safety of your salon through a risk assessment and make suggestions for changes needed where necessary.
In return we expect the salons we work with to be committed to providing the best possible training, including a thorough induction into the workplace, allowing time to attend the academy once a week, providing training opportunities in the salon where students can put their new skills into practice and allocating time for reviews and mentoring sessions too. We will of course be on hand to support and advise you should you need us.
We enjoy a great relationship with all of the salons we work with and we are always on the look out for more.
If you would like to know more about our apprenticeship programme, please contact our Academy or call us on 07961 226411. You can also email us at yazzhair@live.co.uk and we will get back to you.
