Proving that our Yazz stylists never miss a trick on the hair trends front, the team welcomed TIGI –a huge brand in hair care – to one of our three Leeds-based salons recently for part two in a fun creative consultation course.
Visiting the salon on Monday, October 13, Jade, a TIGI colour technician was joined by two ambassadors from its creative team. The aim? To ensure our stylists remain bang up to date when it comes to new fashions and the very latest catwalk-worthy hair ‘dos.
On hand to teach the team from the Yazz Number One Hair Studio team creative colour techniques using methods from key ‘fashion tribes’ for spring/summer 2015, TIGI experts let Yazz staff in on four new fashion tribes.
Each ‘tribe’ represents a different personality, with each one having a suggested set of styling products to achieve a desired hair style. The tribes help identify which products and techniques our stylists use to ensure our customers get the new ‘do they’re looking for.

Speaking after the course, Yazz team member Karen says: “We were taught about each fashion tribe, so we can give an individual colour consultation to each client, making this a unique service.”
So, which tribe are you in?
Eco-fashion Tribe – for a truly natural look. A customer in this tribe might have blonde, brunette, black or red hair, with effects veering towards natural finishes, with glossy, seamless highlights and block colours. Recommended products for customers like this include TIGI Hair Reborn and Catwalk.
Classic Tribe – a sophisticated colour palette encompasses black, red, blonde and brunette shades, with the timeless style of the customer expressed via their chosen colour and techniques. These can be stylish all-over colour, creative highlights, or glossy locks – anything which offers a beautifully classic look using a combination of hair styling techniques. The desired style is best achieved with TIGI’s S Factor.
Haute Couture Tribe – for women who want immaculate hair which perfectly reflects their personality. The look here is ‘polished with a twist’, and style is linked to seasonal fashion changes. Ideal techniques used here are highlights, creative highlights, seamless colours and block colours, in shades of soft red, blondes and brunettes. The lady who belongs in the haute couture tribe wants high-fashion, luxurious hair, which can be achieved with the S Factor and Catwalk, both products by TIGI.
Karen and the Yazz team used skills learned in previous theory sessions from the staff at TIGI, using the colour consultation palettes to identify eye depth, skin tone and the hair’s differing underlying pigments. Doing so went a long way to helping the team decide which tribe each customer belongs to – important if the right look and colour is to be achieved.
