Looking After Your Hairdo on a Budget: Top Tips

Can’t afford a cut every six weeks? While just over a month is the recommended waiting time between trims, you don’t always have to ensure you visit the salon that often. It’s all about keeping an eye on the condition of your hair and deciding for yourself if you think it needs tidying up.

Of course, if you’re growing out your hair, having a regular trim may be less of a priority. Maintaining a pixie crop or short bob, however, requires a frequent visit to our hair Leeds salons.

But we do realise that many of our clients are on a budget, meaning it just isn’t possible to make a regular trip out of going to the salon. What we suggest in this instance, then, is keeping an eye here on both the Yazz No 1 Hair Studio blog or hitting ‘Like’ over on our Facebook page. It’s here that you’ll find not-to-be-missed promos, offers and deals on your next hair cut, because everyone likes to save some money on essentials like this.

In the meantime, though, there are plenty of ways you can look after your hair without spending much money. The easiest change you can make to your hair care routine is simply cutting down on the heated appliances and tools you use.

If you’re an avid straightener or curling tong user, why not try a natural look for at least a couple of days a week and say no to too much heat? Prolonged use of hair dryers, tongs and straighteners will make hair dry and drab-looking. Instead, switch off every now and then, letting your hair dry naturally and giving it a rest from electrical appliances.

Investing in a good conditioning treatment will help keep your hair looking healthy and shiny. But did you know we offer similar intensively moisturising treatments here at Yazz No 1 Hair Studio, too? Combine a good nourishing treatment like this with your usual cut, colour or trim and you’ll soon notice a difference in your hair. Treatments like this don’t cost the earth, either, starting from just £7.50 with a graduate stylist.

Ensuring you come into one of our hair Leeds salons once every six weeks for a conditioning treatment will keep your hair looking great for the rest of the month and beyond.

A good hair oil can also work in place of a deep conditioning treatment when you just don’t have the time to visit the salon. Check out coconut oil, which can be found in most health food shops and has a multitude of uses. Try it as an all-over body moisturiser, a conditioning lip treatment or as a facial cleanser, too!

Believe it or not, shampooing hair too often can actually result in dry, unmanageable locks. Try instead to go a couple of days at the least between washes, using dry shampoo in the days in between to give your ‘do a subtle boost. You’ll soon find that your hair doesn’t require a wash every day, which will save you time and money in the long-run.
